2007 IDEA Red Ribbon Awards

  CONTEST RULES AND ENTRY INFORMATION   IDEA wishes to recognize the individuals, organizations and media who take an active role in community prevention efforts during Red Ribbon Week.  We encourage everyone to nominate an individual or group for one of the following Red Ribbon Awards. 

Please encourage students to participate in one of our contest categories.  

RED RIBBON CATEGORIES  

Best Red Ribbon Idea – Recognizes an individual or group who has implemented a great idea, big or small, to make their community Red Ribbon Campaign a success.  Describe the prevention activity, number of people it served, how it impacted the community, and why it deserves recognition.  

Enrique Camerena Award – Recognizes a professional or organization in the field of prevention, enforcement, treatment or education that embodies Agent Camerena’s belief that one person can make a difference.  Explain why this person/organization deserves the award, and their role in the community’s prevention efforts and Red Ribbon Campaign.  

Red Ribbon Media Award – Recognizes media coverage of the Red Ribbon Campaign and utilization of public service announcements (PSA’s) for ongoing support of community prevention efforts.  Explain why the individual or media entity deserves this award.  We welcome newspaper clippings, tear sheets, audio of PSAs, video clips and similar samples.  

Best Red Ribbon as a Prevention Tool Award – Recognizes an Illinois community that has designed and implemented a creative prevention activity during Red Ribbon Week.  Special emphasis will be placed on communities that present an ongoing program throughout the year.  

Submit Red Ribbon Award entries:   All award entries must be received by mail on or before November 1, 2007.
